“Where have you been, Valeria?” Alejandro asked, stepping into the hallway with an irritated sigh, entirely oblivious to the trap he had walked into. “You weren’t home when I returned.”
“I was running an errand,” I answered smoothly, walking past him toward my study without offering a single glance. “By the way, did you check the safe recently?”
His body visibly stiffened. “Why would I check the safe? Everything is fine in there.”
“Good,” I replied, locking my eyes with his. “Because tomorrow morning, the true owner of Grupo Monteverde is taking back control.”
The next morning, the executive board room was packed with the company’s highest investors, legal teams, and board members. Camila stood near the back, preening in her expensive dress and proudly wearing my stolen rose-gold ring.
Alejandro entered the room with a confident stride, ready to address the board, until the main doors opened behind him and I stepped into the light—dressed in a sharp, bespoke Italian suit with my hair flowing freely down my shoulders.
Camila’s jaw dropped in absolute shock, her face turning pale as she recognized the humble administrative assistant she had slapped just twenty-four hours earlier.
