Part Two of the Story… 👇
[Husband Caught on Flight]
Claire did not look at her husband as she held the phone to her ear, nor did she acknowledge the frantic, silent pleas radiating from his wide, terrified eyes. Instead, her gaze remained fixed on Chloe, whose hands were shaking so violently that she dropped the luxury travel magazine she had been holding. The flight attendant who had offered the blanket stood a few feet away, sensing the sudden drop in temperature in the first-class cabin, awkwardly clutching the fleece fabric before discreetly backing away toward the galley.
The phone rang twice before a sharp, professional voice answered. It was Arthur Vance, the senior partner at Vance & Associates, and more importantly, Claire’s personal estate and family attorney. Claire had retained him years ago when she inherited her grandfather’s substantial commercial real estate portfolio, ensuring that her family assets remained strictly under her own name through a watertight prenuptial agreement. Ryan had signed it gladly back then, eager to prove that he was marrying Claire for love and not her family’s immense wealth.
Claire spoke clearly, her voice cutting through the low hum of the airplane engines. She informed Arthur that she was currently mid-air on flight 405 and required an immediate freeze on all joint marital bank accounts, a suspension of the secondary credit cards issued under her primary account, and the immediate drafting of divorce papers on the grounds of infidelity. Ryan heard every word. He reached out to grab Claire’s wrist, but she stepped back with fluid elegance, entirely out of his reach, never breaking her calm composure.
When Claire ended the call, Ryan finally found his voice, though it was nothing more than a desperate, choked whisper. He begged her to sit down, to let him explain, claiming it was all a misunderstanding and that he was only traveling with Chloe for a crucial project. Claire merely looked down at him, her expression completely devoid of the warmth he had taken for granted for seven years. She pointed out that Portland was in the opposite direction of Denver, and that a logistics company rarely required its sales executives to cuddle with their secretaries under the guise of corporate strategy. With a final, chilling smile, Claire turned on her heel and walked back to her seat in row fourteen, leaving Ryan and Chloe in a state of absolute panic……..
