PART 4: A MOTHER’S HEART
At the back of the leather journal, I found a handwritten letter addressed directly to me in David’s unmistakable, elegant penmanship.
“My love,” he wrote, “if you are reading this, I am finally at peace, knowing Grace is safe with the bravest woman I have ever known.”
Tears blurred my vision as I realized the profound depth of my husband’s integrity, courage, and unconditional love.
I closed the book, looked up at Grace, and opened my arms to draw her into a tight, comforting embrace.
She was no longer a mysterious stranger or a painful question mark in my life; she was part of our family, bound by a legacy of love and selflessness.
Together with our children, we honored David’s memory not with grief, but with the strength and unity he had worked so hard to protect.
