Part 2: The Return of the Patriarch

Part 4: The Stolen Millions

“I need to apologize to you, son,” Thomas said, his grip on my hand tightening. “When the accident happened, Caroline didn’t just walk away. She came to me first.”

My breath caught. “What do you mean?”

“She told me that you were divorcing her and that you wanted nothing to do with the girls because of their disabilities,” Thomas revealed, his eyes darkening with anger. “She begged me for a settlement to care for them. I believed her. I wrote her a check for two million dollars, believing it would secure my granddaughters’ future. She took the money and vanished.”

The room went entirely silent. For twelve years, I had drowned in medical debt, working three jobs, while the woman who caused the accident lived off my father’s wealth.

“When Lily and Rose wrote to me and told me how you struggled, I realized the monstrous lie she had told,” Thomas said. “I’ve spent the last six months freezing her assets and bringing criminal fraud charges against her. She was arrested in Miami on Tuesday. But more importantly, I came to return what is rightfully yours.”

To see the miracle that awaited us on this Father’s Day, continue to Part 5 below.
