PART 2: THE HEROIC NIGHT
The officer took a deep breath and pulled out a small police notepad, his serious expression softening into one of profound respect.
“Two hours ago, on the old river bridge, a car lost control and flipped into the freezing current,” the officer explained, his voice solemn.
“While everyone else stood on the bank recording video on their phones, your daughter didn’t hesitate for a single second.”
Ainsley had dove into the pitch-black, freezing water, shattered the driver’s side window with a heavy rock, and dragged an unconscious middle-aged woman to safety.
I stood frozen in the doorway, tears welling up in my eyes as the overwhelming fear turned into awe for the brave girl I had raised.
“The paramedics treated her for mild hypothermia,” the second officer added, “but she refused a hospital trip because she said her dad would worry if she was late.”
