Part 2

But in the blink of an eye, everything changed!

Gary didn’t pull out a walkie-talkie to call for backup, nor did he realize a giant albino gorilla was attempting to pick his pocket.

Instead, Gary pulled out a shiny, foil-wrapped object from his jacket pocket and peeled back the paper with a loud, crinkling sound.

It was a custom, double-chocolate banana pastry from the high-end bakery downtown.

The rich, sugary aroma of melted chocolate and warm banana instantly filled the air around the glass, striking Snowball’s nostrils like a lightning bolt. 🍫🍌

Snowball’s eyelids fluttered open, his serene and sleepy expression vanishing instantly into a look of absolute, unadulterated desire.

His disguise was completely shattered.

He was no longer the peaceful, sleeping mythical creature dreaming of clouds; he was an ape on a mission, hyper-focused on the pastry in Gary’s hand.

Gary took a huge bite, leaning back against the wall with a sigh of pure satisfaction, entirely unaware of the intense white giant staring daggers at him from three feet away.

Snowball realized that picking the lock to get to the kitchen was going to take way too long.

He needed that pastry right now.

With incredible precision, Snowball didn’t use force or aggression; instead, he put his master intelligence to work using pure psychological warfare.

He slowly pulled his hand back into the enclosure, tucking the small metal file safely into the cedar shavings under his knee.

Then, he rolled onto his back, crossing his massive legs in an ridiculously elegant posture, and let out a soft, adorable squeak that sounded remarkably like a tiny kitten. 🐱

Gary froze mid-chew.

The security guard looked down in complete disbelief, seeing the legendary 400-pound gorilla looking back at him with giant, soulful brown eyes and a pouty pink mouth.

Snowball rested his chin gently on his forearms, tilting his head at an angle that made his bright white fur fluff up like a cloud.

He patted his own round belly with one hand, then pointed a single finger directly at the remaining half of Gary’s chocolate pastry.

“No way,” Gary whispered to himself, dropping his coffee cup onto the concrete ledge. “Are you… asking for a bite?”

Snowball gave a single, slow, solemn nod, bringing his hands together in a begging motion that would melt the heart of the coldest villain.

Gary looked left, then right, checking the empty hallway to ensure no zoo directors or head veterinarians were watching the cameras.
