Five massive men in dark suits pushed past the heavy dining room doors, led by Marcus, the Chief of Corporate Security.
Evelyn gasped, dropping her crystal wine glass onto the Persian rug as she frantically tried to wave them away.
“What is the meaning of this? I demand you leave my house at once!” she shrieked.
Marcus ignored her entirely, walking straight over to me and handing me a thick, leather-bound folder.
“Ms. Sterling, the asset freeze has been successfully executed across all accounts,” he announced loudly, his voice echoing in the silent room.
Connor stood up, his face turning completely pale as he looked between the towering security guards and my shivering frame.
“Ms. Sterling? Her last name is Davis! And who the hell authorized an asset freeze?” Connor demanded, his voice cracking with sudden panic.
“She did,” a crisp voice echoed from the hallway as Lawrence, my Executive Vice President of Legal, strode confidently into the room.
Lawrence adjusted his glasses, looking at the stunned family with absolute disgust.
“Brooke Davis is merely a pseudonym. You are looking at Brooke Sterling, the majority shareholder and true owner of Sterling Holdings—the parent company that outright owns your entire corporation.”
Vanessa let out a small, terrified shriek as Lawrence placed the legal termination documents directly onto the dining table.
