PART 3: THE LEGAL TRAP
“Dad, you didn’t contribute a single dollar to my settlement or this home,” I said, my voice steady as the officers reviewed my paperwork.
Officer Miller looked up from the documents, turning his gaze toward my father and brother with an authoritative frown. “The deed is completely clear. Mr. Reed, if you or your son step foot past these porch stairs, you will be arrested for criminal trespassing.”
Ryan looked at my father in utter disbelief, his arrogant demeanor evaporating into pure panic as he realized the police were not on his side.
“You can’t do this to us, Claire!” Ryan pleaded, his tone shifting from aggression to desperate begging. “We already broke our lease in the city! We have nowhere else to go!”
It was then that my father pulled out his phone, making a frantic call to his attorney, convinced he could reverse the situation in seconds.
What he didn’t know was that my lawyer had already filed an emergency restraining order based on the recorded threats they sent the night before.
