THE BANNED BRIDESMAID

PART 3: THE VENUE CRISIS

I answered his tenth call on speakerphone while laying back on a private cabana towel by the pristine pool.

“Maggie! Where is the money?!” my father screamed over the phone, his voice shaking with absolute panic and background noise. “The caterers won’t unload, and the venue owner is calling the police on us for venue fraud!”

“I sent what I felt your ‘aura’ deserved, Dad,” I replied, my voice completely smooth and detached from their chaotic drama. “A hundred dollars.”

“You ruined your sister’s life!” he raged, as my mother’s sobbing echoed wildly behind him in the background. “They’re shutting down the entire event!”

What my father didn’t realize was that he had signed the venue contract under his own legal name, making him personally liable for every unpaid expense.

Within minutes, police cruisers rolled up to the venue entrance to address the unpaid vendor debt and trespassing disputes.
