Part 2: The Weight of Canvas and Truth

Part 3: The Boardroom Unveiling

Three days later, the high-rise conference room of Vance Biotech overlooked the city skyline. At the head of the table sat Arthur Vance—Edward’s younger brother—surrounded by a sea of corporate lawyers, celebrating the formal acquisition of their newest pharmaceutical line.

The heavy double doors swung open.

I walked into the room wearing my simple yellow sweater, accompanied by Edward’s attorney and two federal investigators. The entire room fell into an immediate, stunned silence.

Arthur frowned, adjusting his silk tie with an arrogant smile. “What is the meaning of this intrusion? This is a private board meeting. Security, escort these people out.”

“I wouldn’t touch her, Mr. Vance,” Edward’s attorney said, tossing the steel thumb drive and certified marriage certificate flat onto the glass table. “Meet Grace Vance. She is the sole primary shareholder and owner of Vance Biotech.”

Arthur laughed, a harsh, dismissive sound. “That’s ridiculous! My brother died penniless in a county ward! Whatever fake documents you’ve manufactured won’t hold up in court!”

“They aren’t fake, Arthur,” I said, my voice steady, ringing with an unyielding authority that made Arthur’s smile vanish. “The thumb drive contains the original, timestamped patent logs Edward hid thirty years ago, alongside digital recordings of your board conspiring to falsify his clinical trials. Under the terms of his final spousal trust, every asset you’ve built on his stolen work is officially seized.”
