The Day Everything Changed at the Office

Part Two of the Story… 👇

Unfaithful Husband Office Scandal

The heavy glass doors of the corporate tower swung open, and the rush of cool, air-conditioned air did nothing to calm the fire racing through my veins. I had left the children with my mother, my eyes still swollen from a night of continuous tears, but as I stepped into the polished marble lobby, the atmosphere was charged with an undeniable, electric tension. Employees were standing in small clusters near the elevators, whispering frantically behind hand-held documents and pointing toward the open glass-walled main conference room.

As I walked closer, Mark met me near the turnstiles. He gave me a somber, knowing nod, gesturing for me to stay silent and follow him. My heart hammered against my ribs like a trapped bird. I expected a scene, perhaps an argument or a tearful confrontation, but I was completely unprepared for the sheer, public undoing that was unfolding right before my eyes.

Standing in the center of the main floor was Cole. The man who had spent sixteen years building a life with me, the man who had looked at me just twelve hours ago with cold disdain and told me I was no longer attractive, was now standing completely paralyzed. His face was a violent shade of crimson, sweat glistening on his forehead despite the chilly atmosphere. Next to him stood Alyssa, looking equally pale and stunned, her gym bag slung carelessly over one shoulder.

Standing directly opposite them were two individuals who held absolute authority in that building: Mr. Harrison, the senior partner and founder of the firm, and a sharply dressed woman carrying a leather briefcase who turned out to be the head of human resources.

“You thought you were being clever, Cole,” Mr. Harrison’s voice echoed across the quieted trading floor, ringing with absolute authority. He held a thick folder in his hands, tapping it against his palm. “You thought that using company credit accounts, submitting fraudulent expense reports for ‘client dinners’ that were actually personal weekend getaways, and utilizing corporate assets to fund personal gifts would go unnoticed.”

My breath caught in my throat. I stood near the pillar, shielded from Cole’s immediate line of sight, listening in disbelief. For months, Cole had complained about budget cuts at work, claiming he was working late to secure a promotion that would keep our large family afloat. I had stayed up late packing his lunches, rubbing his shoulders, and managing six children practically on my own so he could focus on his career. In reality, he had been embezzling funds from the firm to pay for lavish weekend trips, high-end athletic memberships, and expensive gifts for his personal trainer.

“Mr. Harrison, please, I can explain,” Cole stammered, his voice cracking in a way I had never heard before. The arrogance that had defined him the night before had completely vanished, replaced by sheer desperation. “It was a misunderstanding with the accounting software. I was planning to reimburse—”

“Save it,” the HR Director interrupted coldly, opening her briefcase and pulling out a stack of formal documents. “The audit was finalized this morning. We have detailed receipts, hotel logs, and security footage from the company garage. Furthermore, using corporate resources to conduct an inappropriate relationship on company time violates every clause of your employment contract.”

Alyssa’s eyes widened in horror as she realized the depth of the situation. “Wait a second,” she interjected, stepping back from Cole as if he were suddenly radioactive. “I had no idea about any of this. He told me he was the principal director here and that these were perk expenses! I’m not involved in his business!”

Cole turned to her, his eyes desperate. “Alyssa, wait, tell them—”
