part 2

But in the blink of an eye, everything changed!

Instead of letting out a terrifying roar, Uncle Silas did something that nobody in the history of the mountain forest had ever seen him do.

The giant, intimidating silverback slowly reached up and gently tickled Kibo right under his soft, fuzzy chin! 🐾

Kibo’s eyes snapped open in complete shock.

He let out a high-pitched, squeaky little chuckle that sounded like a tiny squeak toy.

Silas didn’t look angry at all. In fact, deep around his dark eyes, there were gentle wrinkles of pure amusement.

The grumpiest gorilla in the jungle was actually smiling.

It turns out Uncle Silas wasn’t angry about the bamboo at all.

He had been watching little Kibo try to climb for the past twenty minutes from behind a banana tree.

He had watched the tiny baby stumble over moss, trip on small twigs, and struggle to lift his heavy, fluffy bottom onto the smooth green pole.

Silas was actually proud of the little guy’s determination and bravery.

With incredible gentleness, the 400-pound silverback slid his giant hand behind Kibo’s back to give him a supportive boost.

He pushed Kibo just a little bit higher, helping him reach the very top of the stalk where the sweetest, softest young leaves grew.

Kibo looked down at his huge uncle, his worry instantly melting away into pure joy. 🌟

He plucked a tiny tender green leaf, held it out in his little palm, and offered it to Silas.

The giant silverback carefully accepted the tiny peace offering with his enormous lips and munched on it happily.

Just then, Maya, Kibo’s mother, burst through the bushes, panting and frantic with worry.

She had realized her adventurous little baby was missing and had tracked him straight to the forbidden bamboo patch.

She braced herself for chaos, expecting to find Uncle Silas chasing her mischievous son away.

Instead, she stopped dead in her tracks, her mouth hanging slightly open in total disbelief.

There sat her wild, adventurous baby boy, perched comfortably at the top of the prized bamboo tree.

And sitting right below him was the forest’s scariest protector, acting like a giant, furry playground monitor.

Silas looked up at Maya, let out a soft, reassuring grunt, and patted the ground beside him.
