But in the blink of an eye, everything changed!
Marcus did not panic.
A true king never loses his composure over a little unexpected mud.
While any other gorilla would have thrown a massive temper tantrum or run off into the wooden holding shelter to hide in shame, Marcus remained frozen in place.
He took a slow, deep breath through his dark nose.
He slowly raised his thick black arm toward his forehead.
The crowd stopped laughing, holding their breath as they watched his every single move.
With agonizing slow motion, Marcus used two fingers to gently peel the muddy leaf off his head.
He didn’t toss it away in anger.
Instead, he held the wet leaf up to the sunlight, inspecting it like a high-fashion designer examining a piece of rare Italian silk. 🎨
Then, using his right knuckle, he expertly scraped the thick mud from the leaf and applied it like styling pomade directly into his hair tuft.
He didn’t just clean his hair; he sculpted it.
He pushed the reddish-brown crown tuft straight up into a sharp, towering spike that stood three inches higher than before.
He carefully patted the sides until the shape was perfectly symmetrical.
Then, he calmly wiped his fingers on the green grass.
He settled back down into his iconic crouching posture, leaning forward onto his thick arms.
He locked his deep dark eyes straight into the camera lens of the professional photographer in the front row.
He gave the subtle, unmistakable smirk of a master who had just turned a complete disaster into a legendary fashion statement. 😎
The quiet in the park lasted for three long seconds.
Then, the crowd exploded into a standing ovation.
“Did you see that?!” a man shouted, frantically tapping his camera screen. “He just styled his own hair with mud!”
“That gorilla has more drip than anyone in Hollywood!” a teenage girl gasped, recording a live video.
The click of high-speed camera shutters returned with ten times the intensity of before.
Bright white light flashed across Marcus’s face like a wall of lightning.
Barnaby, with his cheap neon sweatband and plastic sunglasses, was completely forgotten.
Barnaby even dropped his sunglasses into the dirt, staring at Marcus in utter awe and confusion.
Barnaby walked over slowly, keeping his distance, and sat down in the grass nearby.
He looked at Marcus’s tall, spiked hair tuft, then looked down at his own dirty knuckles.
