Ryan stepped out of the vehicle, his jaw dropping as he took in the sight before him. Bright colored silk ties hung from the low branches of the oak tree. His expensive designer suits lay piled near the fountain. Suitcases stood open on the gravel, spilling shirts and papers across the lawn. Behind him, Victoria stepped out of her car, her face pale with immediate outrage, her eyes wide as she looked at the chaos.

“What is the meaning of this?!” Ryan roared, striding up the steps toward the front porch where I stood, framed by two tall, uniformed security officers. “Ava! Have you lost your mind? Put this trash away right now!”

He reached the top step, but the two officers immediately stepped forward, blocking his path with stern, unyielding expressions.

“Step back, sir,” one officer commanded coldly.

“Do you know who I am?” Ryan yelled, his face flushing crimson as he tried to push past them. “This is my house! I live here! Ava, tell these men to back off before I make you regret this!”

“It isn’t your house, Ryan,” I said, my voice quiet, clear, and carrying across the lawn. “It never was. You signed a prenuptial agreement that explicitly stated this property, the land, and every asset derived from my father’s estate remain solely in my name. You were a guest. And your invitation has expired.”

Victoria scurried up the walkway, her heels clicking angrily against the stone. “You ungrateful little brat!” she shrieked, pointing a trembling finger at me. “My son made you who you are! You will not treat us like common criminals! We are moving into the lower suite today, and you will obey your husband!”

“I don’t have a husband anymore,” I replied calmly. “And as for your holding company, Victoria, you might want to call your bank. The federal freeze went into effect at nine this morning. Every cent you tried to siphon from my trust has been recovered.”

Victoria gasped, clutching her chest as her face drained of all color. She looked at Ryan, whose arrogant expression suddenly shattered into pure panic.

“Ava, wait…” Ryan stammered, taking a step back as the reality of his situation began to set in. “We can talk about this inside. Let’s just go inside and clear this up. I was stressed last night, I didn’t mean—”

“You dropped a makeup bag on the counter and told me to hide the bruises,” I interrupted, staring him straight in the eyes. “You thought you could break me and hide the damage. But the police already have the video, Ryan. They have the audio. And they are waiting for you at the gate…..”
