The giant male gorilla didn’t charge, roar, or beat his chest like he usually did when humans approached his territory.
Instead, he sat as still as a carved granite statue, curling his massive dark arms slightly inward.
He was actively forming a physical shield around the two snowy infants to block the chill mountain wind. 💨
The smaller white twin was still gently tapping Marcus’s huge leather toes, completely fearless and warm.
The larger twin had closed her eyes, lulled to sleep by the deep, steady rhythm of Marcus’s heartbeat.
Marcus looked straight at the human team with a gaze that wasn’t aggressive, but intensely protective.
His amber eyes seemed to say, “If you take one step closer, you answer to me.”
The head keeper slowly lowered his tranquilizer equipment, tears welling up in his eyes at the sight.
The fiercest, most isolated male in the entire sanctuary had willingly become a sanctuary himself.
Without a single word spoken, the human team knew they couldn’t simply rush in and pull the babies away.
Doing so would cause panic, and Marcus would fight to the death to defend the white infants he had just adopted…..
