The Secret Heiress’s Revenge

Part Two of the Story… 👇

Secret Billionaire Ex-Wife

Brendan tried to brush off the phone call with a forced chuckle, but the silence that followed my words hung heavy in the opulent dining room. Diane sneered, setting her crystal goblet down with an exasperated sigh, while Jessica adjusted her diamond bracelet and cast a condescending look in my direction. They expected me to gather my ruined belongings, hang my head in shame, and stumble out into the rain.

Instead, I sat perfectly still, listening to the rhythmic ticking of the grandfather clock in the corner. The icy water continued to trickle down my neck, soaking into the fabric of my sweater, but I did not shiver. The physical discomfort was nothing compared to the clarity that had finally washed over me. For three years, I had kept my identity hidden, wanting to be loved for who I was rather than the vast corporate empire I commanded. I had tolerated their snide remarks, their dismissive glances, and their endless demands, foolishly believing that humility would win their hearts. But standing there, dripping wet in the middle of their grand dining room, I realized that some people mistake kindness for weakness.

Before Brendan could deliver another mocking remark, his phone began to vibrate violently against the mahogany table. He glanced at the screen, expecting a routine notification, but his expression hardened into confusion when he saw the caller ID. It was the Senior Vice President of Operations at Apex Global—the very company where Brendan served as a regional director and where his mother held a lucrative consulting retainer.

Brendan tapped the screen and brought the phone to his ear. “Hello, Mr. Vance? Is everything alright? It is Sunday evening…”

He fell silent as the voice on the other end delivered a rapid series of instructions. Brendan’s face drained of color so quickly that even Diane noticed. She sat up straight, her air of arrogant superiority faltering for the first time that night.

“What do you mean, frozen?” Brendan stammered, his voice rising sharply. “My corporate credentials? My expense accounts? Sir, there must be a mistake. I am in the middle of a family dinner—”

He was cut off abruptly. The line went dead.

Before he could process what had just happened, Diane’s phone chimed with a high-priority alert, followed immediately by Jessica’s phone. A collective chime of distress echoed through the high-ceilinged room. Jessica pulled out her device, her eyes widening in horror as she read an automated notification from her father’s firm—a prominent marketing agency whose primary client was Apex Global. The notification stated that all contracts with her family’s business had been terminated effective immediately under an emergency clause.

“Brendan, what is going on?” Jessica gasped, her voice trembling. “My father’s company just lost its primary account. They said Apex canceled everything!”

Diane’s hand shook as she read an urgent email on her screen. Her high-paying consulting contract with Apex had been revoked, and her company-issued luxury vehicle was scheduled for immediate repossession. The grand estate we were sitting in, funded largely through corporate housing allowances and executive perks provided by Apex, was suddenly facing a complete audit and lock-out procedure.

Brendan looked at his screen in disbelief, his fingers flying across the surface as he tried to access his banking application. “My accounts… my primary card was declined. The company credit line is revoked. Everything is locked!”

He looked up, his gaze darting around the room until it finally landed on me. I remained seated, calmly drying my phone with a paper napkin.

“What did you do?” Brendan whispered, his voice stripped of all its former confidence. “What was that call? Who is Arthur?”
