Uncovered Mystery

My fingers trembled so violently that I nearly tore the paper down the middle as I unfolded it. The familiar slant of Owen’s handwriting stared back at me, neat and precise, just as it had been on every homework assignment I used to help him with at the kitchen table. Owen wrote that Mark was deep in debt from failed business ventures I knew nothing about, and that he had been searching for a way out. Owen had tried to convince himself he was misinterpreting what he heard, but a month before this last fatal trip, he found legal documents hidden in Mark’s home office safe. The documents outlined a complex trust fund and an insurance claim clause that would payout millions in the event of an accidental death where a body was never recovered…..
