Part 2

But in the blink of an eye, everything changed!

The black object suspended from the ceiling wasn’t a fallen camera or a broken piece of sanctuary equipment.

It was a high-tech surveillance drone, sleek and silent, equipped with four glowing red lenses and a tiny robotic arm.

The drone hovered softly in the air, humming with a low, electrical buzz that vibrated straight through the floorboards.

Dr. Thorne gasped, reaching instantly for the emergency lockdown button mounted on the wall panel.

“Security! We have a perimeter breach in Section 4!” Thorne shouted into his radio comms. 🚨

Before the security team could respond, the drone swung its arm around, aiming a small metallic canister directly at the glass barrier.

The drone had been sent by an international syndicate of exotic animal poachers who had been tracking Balthazar for months.

They didn’t just want a photo of the legendary white gorilla; they wanted to capture him alive for an illegal private menagerie.

The drone released a sudden burst of pressurized, sweet-smelling sleeping gas into the ventilation system.

Dr. Thorne and Vance immediately began coughing, dropping to their knees as the thick fog filled the observation hallway.

Vance scrambled blindly along the wall, his expensive suit covered in white dust, completely terrified out of his mind. 😱

Inside the enclosure, Balthazar watched the chaos unfold through his blurred, squinted vision.

To his terrible eyes, the drone didn’t look like a dangerous piece of illegal military technology.

It looked like a very annoying, very noisy black fly that was ruining his peaceful morning nap.

And if there was one thing Balthazar hated more than late coffee, it was noisy flies buzzing near his fluffy white coat. 🐝

The drone drifted lower, aiming its tranquilizer dart launcher straight at Balthazar’s chest.

It clicked softly as its automated targeting system locked onto the center of his massive silver-white chest fur.

Target acquired. 0.5 seconds to firing sequence.

Balthazar took one slow, deliberate step forward, his massive white arms swinging like heavy oak pendulums.

He didn’t roar. He didn’t beat his chest like the wild gorillas in the movie documentaries.

He simply let out a long, heavy sigh that blew a cloud of dust across the clean floor.

Then, with a speed that defied his massive bulk, Balthazar reached out a single, gigantic hand. 🖐️

His massive fingers, covered in soft white fur right down to the knuckles, snatched the drone clean out of mid-air.

CRUNCH! 💥

The sound of shattering carbon fiber and crushed microchips echoed through the entire glass enclosure.

Balthazar opened his palm, looking down at the mangled wreckage of the thousand-dollar poacher drone with complete indifference.

A few tiny sparks flickered from the broken battery pack, singing a tiny speck of his immaculate arm fur.

That tiny singe was the final straw for Balthazar.

He looked at the broken pieces, then looked up through the glass at the two men lying on the floor outside.

Dr. Thorne was clutching his throat, squinting through the fading fog at the miracle that had just occurred before his eyes.

The drone had been destroyed in less than half a second by an ape who hadn’t even bothered to stand up fully.

Balthazar walked slowly over to the glass wall, stepping over the crushed metal without giving it a second glance.

He pressed his massive, dark palm against the cold glass surface, right where Dr. Thorne’s trembling head rested.

His deep, severe scowl slowly softened into something entirely different—something calm, ancient, and protective. 🛡️
